I listened to this week's Sorry, Partner podcast proud as punch for Amy Muscoplat's "Club Kvell" segment. There's a nice picture of the club with snowy mountains from last March, and a link to the episode here: https://sorrypartner.com/club-kvell
One of our best features for new bridge players are "Office Hours" on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We open the club for anyone to come in and play casual bridge. Zachary or another experienced mentor will be on hand to keep things going or get you through a sticking point in bidding or play. Drop in any time, 3:00-5:00 Monday through Wednesday.
Chinese New Year Party
We had our biggest club game ever on Wednesday for the great Chinese New Year party. We did fine with 16 tables. (I've had more in play for tournaments, but not for a club game!)
Main room filled with tables
Nina, Don, and Margie, brought in a great chinese buffet and decorations for the event
Two Over One Game Force
Now that you have some experience with Standard American, let's make a small adjustment. Two Over One Game Force (2/1GF) helps you find more slams, and helps you reach the right game more often. For that reason, it's the preferred system for tournament players.
While it's a tiny tweak from Standard, it does come with it's own idioms and idiosyncrasies. You'll always have more partners available when you say "I play 2/1!"
Besides being about bidding, this course has some of the best "play of the hand" problem solving I've seen in any course anywhere.
